Avid to buy Euphonix for undisclosed sum

LAS VEGAS — Multimedia software developer Avid Technology Inc. has agreed to buy Euphonix, maker of large-format digital audio consoles, media controllers and peripherals.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Avid said on Sunday the deal will expand its product offerings for customers ranging from independent music professionals to high-end broadcasters.

Euphonix is based in Mountain View, Calif.

Shares of Avid fell 13 cents to $16.48 in afternoon trading.
