FriendFeed Favors 9 Elites To Gain Maximum Followers?
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkMonday, July 7, 2008
Allen from CenterNetworks made a startling discovery. It appears FriendFeed show the same 9 friendfeed users as default every time a new users signs-up. While it is excellent for the elites like Robert Scoble & Jason Calacanis, others are left behind.
Note that Twitter has no such default.
It think FriendFeed should be more democratic in choosing the default set. How about the most active users that week or that day?

Might it be that these are the top rated users in terms of a formula that considers the number of ‘likes’ and views their postings acquire, and the number of followers those top users have acquired? Compared to Twitter, Scoble and Calacanis seem to post less to FF, but their FF posts are more in-depth, consolidated and provoke more participation by others. On FF, quantity does not translate into quality. Less can be better. Why does this even need to be a competition? I’m grateful for your FF posts; there is no need to compete. I learn more from you than other FF posters. If others cannot find and follow you, that’s their loss. |
