How You can Spy on Employees Using Mobile Phone?

According to BBC report, Japanese firm KDDI developed a mobile phone that can be used to track your employees. The device is supposed to capture every movement of employees using accelerometers and analysis software, and then send it back to the boss. The mobile will be able to tell whether any employee is wasting time or doing any unproductive work.
But, Philip Sugai, director of the mobile consumer lab at the International University of Japan, said that the mobile was developed for different purpose. For example, in case of telemedicine, the device can be used to monitor the patient’s movement remotely. He also added that there is going to be negative impact if it is used by companies to track employees.
“Because this technology will make central monitoring possible with workers at several different locations, businesses especially are very interested in using such technology to improve the efficiency of their workers. We are now at a stage where we can offer managers a chance to analyse more closely the behaviour of staff,” said the director.
But, the question remains that this kind of monitoring is ethical or an invasion of privacy. Hiroyuki Yokoyama from KKDI told BBC news that in case, any employer wants to use the system, they should go into an agreement with the employees before using them. The device is not meant to develop for the invasion of privacy. On the contrary, as per him, the device creates caring, mothering system at the work premises. However, Kazuo Hizumi, a leading human rights lawyer told BBC News that it is totally irresponsible if KDDI brought such a surveillance syatem.
