Gmail has not stopped from experimenting with its features. And the labs area for Gmail is getting interesting with each passing day. Yesterday they published a feature called multiple Gmail Inboxes. You can have multiple frames in the inbox view with filtered content in each inbox. The main pane can show all the inbox content and the other panes can show filtered content like Starred mails, Drafts, Mails with a specific label, etc.
Let me give you a look of how things look like
I guess you have got an idea by now.
You can activate it by going to Settings -> labs button and then scroll down to find Multiple Inboxes and click Enable and then Save changes.
What You see?
Four squared boxes with categories like this as headers.
- is:starred
- is:unread
- has:attachment
- label:something
What’s More?
Nothing much. You get customization features along with it. Go to Settings -> Multiple inboxes, and enter the view you want. For example:
- You can add more panels that too with your choice of sides.
- You can determine the number of conversations to be shown per category.
- You can even name them your way. Because frankly , is: starred is not at all social to be mildly critical.
Conclusion
So, do you like it? Is it gonna help you or its just another feature which has absolutely no utility for you? What’s your view?
