MySpace names Rosenbaum as its first finance chief

NEW YORK — The social networking hub MySpace says it has named Mark Rosenbaum as its first chief financial officer.

News Corp.-owned MySpace said Monday that Rosenbaum will report to CEO Owen Van Natta, who replaced co-founder Chris DeWolfe in the company’s top post in April.

MySpace says Rosenbaum has more than two decades of experience in startups as well as mature companies, acquisitions and sales. He recently served as a consultant to Gemstar-TV Guide, which News Corp. sold in 2008.

Van Natta has been working to trim costs and reinvigorate MySpace. In June, the company announced plans to cut more than 700 jobs in the U.S. and overseas. It has also retained consulting firm Media Link to vamp up its advertising business.
