Summary Box: BlackBerry users mull ban threat
THE BACKDROP: India and the United Arab Emirates have threatened to ban key BlackBerry features over security concerns unless device maker Research In Motion Ltd. agrees to concessions.
THE DEVOTEES: They’re concerned that their work routines could be sorely crimped, and many of them are scrambling for alternatives such as Apple Inc.’s iPhone.
BLESSING IN DISGUISE: Those who see the gadgets less as a convenience and more as a tether to bosses back home are suggesting a ban isn’t necessarily bad.
