Tessera signs updated technology licensing deal
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Tessera Technologies Inc. said Monday that its semiconductor packaging unit has signed an updated technology licensing agreement with United Test and Assembly Center Ltd., settling outstanding litigation between the companies.
The companies did not disclose the full value of the new licensing agreement, which will run through the end of 2016.
They did say that United Test and Assembly Center, which provides test and assembly services for semiconductor devices, will pay $15 million in cash to settle past royalties that it owes to Tessera.
Because of the payment, Tessera, based in San Jose, Calif., raised its first-quarter revenue forecast to $63 million to $64 million, from a previous range of $58 million to $61 million.
Tessera Technologies shares rose 75 cents, or 4.2 percent, to $18.71.
