Thin Client for Java Developers?

Would you give a thin client to your Java developers? My friend is trying to have 8+ Java developers working on thin clients running Eclipse. He is using a 8-way big iron with 8 GB RAM. I cannot even imagine giving my Java developers a thin client, but then technologies have advanced to the point where it is a possibility.
He is using a Gigabit LAN. His initial trial run was successful. The only problem he is facing now is that OpenSuse, the Linux distro he is using, isn’t supporting Samsung 740NW monitor on thin clients.
Do you have any experience in having Java / PHP developers using thin client? Do you have any experience running Samsung 740NW monitor on thin client using LTSP?
If so, we would like to know. Please leave your comment below or contact us using the contact form. This is a novel experiment which can be potentially ground-breaking for everyone if it succeeds.
