Walt Disney Co has unveiled an online gaming community named World of Cars that is adapted from the 2006 hit animated flick ‘Cars’, produced by the Pixar Animation Studios. In this virtual world the players can make a world of their own after signing up for the service. They can also interact with famous car characters from the cult movie such as Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen. They can also share their views and interact with the online players in the community at any time. Disney possibly wants to keep the interest in the franchisee alive till Cars 2 the sequel to the 2006 film hits the theaters next year!

Celebrity guests like Jenifer Lewis and Cheech Marin were at the premiere event of the World of Cars. Lane Merrifield who is the Disney Online Studios executive VP revealed that the aim of the company is to offer a healthy social environment online where kids can enjoy a nice time with their friends. Disney wants to see how the fans of the film react to this development and Pixar is also quite happy about it.
