windows71Voila! Microsoft let all the jaw drops with a new announcement on Windows 7. The Redmond company declared today that consumers who buy the Vista PCs before the launch of Windows 7 operating system will get a free upgrade to the new OS - Windows 7. So those of you purchase the Vista Premium, Business or Ultimate tomorrow onwards can have a cake walk to Windows 7 with the free upgrade when it becomes available from October 22nd.

The company would be offering the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade for $49 USD and Windows 7 Professional Upgrade for $99 USD, which is half of the suggested retail prices.

From what we tested, the Windows 7 beta and the RC runs far more smoother than the bug-prone Vista and offers an excellent booting time of less than 20 seconds. Moreover, you have fewer hassles of UAC pop-ups.

For the latest buzz, Microsoft would start accepting the pre-orders for the new operating system from June 26th onwards. The pre-orders for sale would start from tomorrow in US, Canada and Japan, and from next month in UK, France and Germany. With the promotional prices Microsoft anticipates the sell old to last not more than two weeks.

Let me remind you the promotional offer would end by January 2010.
