Dell Computers Chooses AMD Processors

Dell Computers (DELL) announced that it will start using AMD’s processors, breaking its long-standing, single-source relationship with Intel (INTC) and giving AMD yet another victory over Intel.

AMD shares surged 12% to $35.10 in late trading, while Intel shares dropped 5% to $17.80. Dell shares added 3.2% to $24.17.

AMD increased both its manufacturing and technology competitiveness which benefitted its customers - like Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) and IBM (IBM). via Forbes

I think Dell computers should have moved away from single-source relationship last year itself which would probably have helped its stock market slide since December last year.
