Dell Faces Allegations of Gender Biasness; What’s Your Stand?
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkThursday, November 6, 2008
Gender Equality, Women Righteousness - they all sound good when read. But how many times do we see it being implemented? Dell has to stand up against a class action law-suit filed by four female executives for discriminating against women in pay, job placement, promotions and layoffs.
- In May 2007, Dell announced plans to lay off about 8,800 workers, about 10 percent of its workforce. Those layoffs unfairly targeted women and older workers
- More than 80 percent of Dell’s upper management is now male.
If these two statistics and the case file seem to be a co-incidence and improper to you, then either you are a male worker from Dell or a silent supporter of gender biasness.
