Re: Goolge
Goolge always had the two ‘o’s’ ogling at its audience somewhat like brat Simpsons’ eyes. Voila! Now Google’s Android phones will have it’s own eyes. Well, not human sight, but a mobile phone eye, which could tell you what you are looking at, when you point the camera at it. The Mountain View company has assigned it a ludicrous name - Google Goggles - that fits perfectly to the app. Essentially, Google Goggles is a mobile application that includes voice, location, and visual search technologies. The app allows you to take the picture of a location from their smartphones and provides information on it from Google search.

The app also includes text-recognition capabilities. For the text search, Google Goggles uses optical character recognition (OCR) to read things like logos and labels that would aid the search. Take an example, you can scan a business card and move the cards info into the address book of your Android phone.

As Google provides in its blog, the Goggles technology would work best on products, books, DVDs, landmarks, logos, contact info, artwork, businesses, barcodes, or text. Still you might not find it too good at deciphering shots of animals, furniture, plants, cars or clothing.

Another capability that adds augmented reality to the camera view. It combines the phone’s GPS and compass to allow you to scan the scene around you with your phones camera. It gives info pop up onscreen about businesses and other sites you view. Have a look at the video

Overall, it seems an interesting concept in a handful of situations. Say for instance you are a tourist and want to know more about a monument that you visit. Might be you know the name of the monument but you wanna have its seak-peeks on your mobile Google Goggle can do that for you and in your own language.

Whatever be the price, it’s a revolutionary piece of technology to be included in the mobile phones domains. Especially, for those considering to buy an Android based mobile phone will have a big reason to go ahead.
