How To Configure BSNL ADSL Modem (UT-300R & UT-300R2) for Multiple Users on Windows NT / 2000 / XP, Linux, Mac
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkMonday, November 7, 2005
Have you ever tried to configure your ADSL Modem to automatically connect to the internet without requiring to connect from a computer? Are you a BSNL Broadband user? I have played without success with the ADSL Modem manual before I found this gem on BSNL site.
Few Tips:
You may not want to keep the default IP address of 192.168.1.1 for the DSL Router. For example if you change the IP address of the router to 192.168.5.1 then ensure that the IP address of your machine is in the range 192.168.5.* and your gateway is 192.168.5.1.
You can and should change the default password for your modem for added security. It is available under Admin section. Commit and Reboot after the changes.

Hi, I have a BSNL connection and use a Nokia Siemens Modem to connect to the network, I use one desktop and a Laptop, My Problem is I use a PPPoE Connection to dialup my modem (So I cannot use Internet simultaneously), Is there any which can help me avoid this connection it self or can we dial automatically with the modem instead of dialing manually using the PC? My AIM is to use Internet on both the machines simultaneously, I am using XP OS. Please suggest. |

@Sangram Use a WPA security at the earliest.. Not using a secured WiFi, not only increases the bill, but can also be used for terrorist activities..! Go to the modem, (typically https://192.168.1.1 ) > put your login (check from your BSNL connection) > then go to Wireless setup, and select WPA/WPA2 security. Try searching the exact steps that may depend router upon model to model. ~ B |

Your BSNL userid and password needs to be in the modem to allow you to connect. Your modem uses them to connect. Add them to your router again and then try. I don’t think there is a problem with your modem. |
