IBM Shuts Down UDDI Business Registry

In a significant move IBM decided to shutdown its UDDI business and test registry, one of the earliest available.

I would be very interested to know the real reason behind the shutdown.

Is it because the registry wasn’t being used very much and yet consuming too much resources with dummy/test entries so much so to make it a concern for IBM? I find it hard to believe.

Or does it signify a drastic reduction of business interest of IBM in SOAP and related technologies or more widely on web services?

Either way it doesn’t look good.
