THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - City-based IT solutions provider IBS Software has partnered with Britain’s Transport Research Laboratory (LRT) to develop travel and transportation safety solutions, the company said Thursday.

The partnership agreement signed between the two companies covers a number of technology-focused research and development activities.

“IBS and TRL will collaborate in developing intelligent transport solutions and information management systems that will increase safety, efficiency and sustainability, through a tool-based consulting approach,” IBS chief executive V.K. Mathews told reporters here.

“Research on various aspects of road safety, will be one of the areas of collaboration between the two organisations.”

Susan Sharland, chief executive of TRL, said the companies would develop country-level accident data systems, initially focusing on Asia, Middle East and Europe.

IBS’ latest product RSMS (Road Safety Management System), specifically designed for the surface transport sector, is currently being used in World Bank funded projects in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
