NEW DELHI - State-run telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) Friday said it will launch its third generation (3G) mobile services in Mumbai next month.

‘We will launch 3G services in Mumbai in the first week of February,’ MTNL chairman and managing director R.S.P. Sinha told reporters on the sidelines of a conference.

MTNL had earlier launched the service in Delhi, called Jaadu. However, the commercial launch is yet to take place. ‘We will launch commercial 3G operations in Delhi in the next 10 days,’ Sinha said.

The company has not entered into any tie-up with content providers. ‘Currently, our IPTV providers give us content, going forward we may tie up with other firms,’ Sinha said.

MTNL has 15,000 IPTV subscribers in Delhi and Mumbai.
