By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkThursday, December 18, 2008
Google has compiled the names of this year’s mega celebrities. The popularity is anything but to leave out because its just not another list. Google says that these people were searched for throughout the year in number of billions! And here Obama loses out to Sarah Palin! Sporty people list their names with head held high in two major places. Beijing 2008 and Euro 2008. Sorry Miss Hilton and Britney, you two are not at the top unlike yahoo. At last, sigh.
So over to Google now. Here is what they had to say.
As the year comes to a close, it’s time to look at the big events, memorable moments and emerging trends that captivated us in 2008. As it happens, studying the aggregation of the billions of search queries that people type into the Google search box gives us a glimpse into the zeitgeist — the spirit of the times. We’ve compiled some of the highlights from Google searches around the globe and hope you enjoy looking back as much as we do.
