Summary Box: Microsoft, Yahoo team up in search
NEW SEARCH TEAM: Microsoft’s technology is now providing the search results on Yahoo’s website in the U.S. and Canada.
THE PURSUIT: Having lost ground while competing on their own, Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc. are hoping their new alliance will pose a more compelling alternative to Internet search leader Google Inc. in the most lucrative part of the online ad market. Microsoft and Yahoo agreed to team up 13 months ago, but it has taken awhile to get all the pieces in place.
WHAT’S NEXT: Microsoft hopes to link its ad-serving service to Yahoo’s website by the holidays.
