Sybase, Wendy’s/Arby’s are active movers

NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

Sybase Inc., up $8.08 to $64.22

Germany’s SAP is paying $5.8 billion for the cell phone software maker to better compete with rival Oracle.

Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc., down 15 cents to $4.94

The fast-food chain posted a quarterly loss as customers shrugged off Arby’s new dollar menu and $5 meal deals.

Sprint Nextel Corp., up 31 cents to $4.46

The wireless carrier announced a new prepaid plan exclusive to Wal-Mart and the launch date of its first “4G” phone.

Sony Corp., down $1.71 to $31.53

PlayStation 3 maker Sony Corp. stayed in the red last quarter, hurt by a strong yen and lower electronics sales.

Kohl’s Corp., down $3.34 to $53.81

The discount department store retailer raised its full-year outlook, but the forecast missed analyst expectations.

Whole Foods Market Inc., up $2.25 to $42.50

Stronger sales helped the natural and organic grocery chain more than double its second-quarter net income.

Cisco Systems Inc., down $1.21 to $25.53

The world’s largest maker of computer networking equipment posted a solid profit and forecast, but investors hoped for more.

Urban Outfitters Inc., down $2.63 to $36.78

The teen clothing retailer’s 72 percent jump in quarterly profit only narrowly beat Wall Street’s expectations.
