Taslima Nasreen: Muslim Fundamentalism Rears Its Ugly Head

It is a crying shame for India that in Hyderabad, famed internationally acclaimed Bengali writer Taslima Nasreen was attacked, with intention to kill, by muslim fundamentalists from MIM party which includes MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) who stated that he was a muslim first and MLA later. His attempt to kill was derided by a rival MLA who stated that he should have actually killed her then and there (not that he left any stone unturned in his attempt to kill but was thwarted by the cops) to show respect for muslim sentiments!
She was in Hyderabad for the launch of her book Shodh in Telugu.Three MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly) of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen were among those who physically attacked her with bouquets, flower pots and chairs, accusing of perceived “anti-Muslim” statements.Akbaruddin Owaisi, one of the MLA’s, tried to justify the attacks by saying, “We are not bothered about our MLA status. We are Muslims first.”
I am ashamed to think these muslim fundamentalists are born in the same country that I love and respect so much.
Nasreen has spoken out in the past in favour of equal rights for women and has expressed opposition to the oppression of non-Islamic minorities in Islamic societies, such as in her home country Bangladesh. She is a strong feminist and renounced her birth religion islam to become an atheist. It would be our honor to give her citizenship or at least permanent residency that she wants.
I am unable to decide which of the following news is sadder:
1. Today the Hyderabad police have registered a case against her for hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims.
2.
The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), a MIM rival, meanwhile alleged that MIM foiled its (MBT’s) plan to kill Taslima outside the press club.MIM also came under criticism from some Urdu newspapers for attacking Nasreen with bouquets.
Carrying pictures of MIM legislators hurling bouquets, a newspaper came down heavily on the leaders for allowing her to leave Hyderabad unhurt.
Considered a critic of MIM, the Siasat newspaper lampooned the legislators for their failure to inflict injuries to a woman. The paper suggested that Nasreen could have been killed as the police reached the scene 30 minutes after the attack.

Angsuman, I strongly support you. What Mohamed said, about the “burn women alive after husband death”, that used to happen in ancient India. But as time goes on, we realize the bad effect of this on society and now this does not happen no more. This is because we become more civilized and we can change ourselv accordingly. But there are some person like Mohamed who cannot change and does not respect other religion. Even now, they belive in ‘JIHAD’. So it is better not to care those pepole like Mohamed who will never become civilize. |

Mohamed, I don’t care if she doesn’t like males or even if she doesn’t like me in person or my religion. That doesn’t give me the right to want to kill her! Sure, she doesn’t like islam. But does that give muslim’s the right to kill her? Should then the same principle be applied to other religions whom muslim’s don’t like? So if a muslim doesn’t like any christian or a jew does that give the christian or the jew the right to kill the muslim? If we all start killing each other because someone doesn’t like us or believe in our faith then the world will soon be devoid of humanity in all sense of the word. Freedom of speech and expression is what makes us civilized and not barbarians. That freedom should be respected and nourished, not trampled upon. |

You are surprised by that reaction of Muslims, but not surprised of HER actions at the first place that leaded to that reaction? She is giving hatred statements and actions against Islam, and then when Muslims react, you say why, and give your share of hatred words against Islam as well? Rather than that, you ask yourself this, why always those people attack Islam, while Hindus, for example, burn women alive after husband death, in your INDIA, but she neglects that and attack Islam instead? While you justify their hatred, and defend a stupid feminist who has inferiority complex and whishes to deny someone like you (if you consider yourself a man) any superiority in your mind, work and achievements. And wishes to you the opposite of what you wish to her! She and her likes have nothing to do but fiddle-faddle. That woman has hatred and anger and spite, more than those who attacked her. Think about it. Give your self some education about Islam in deep, and see proofs of what I have mentioned above, angsuman. |

In bangladesh/Pak Minority can not speak for their right, but why in Indian Muslim fundalist can make drama, whatever illegal they can do, but poltician man watching, this is not fare. Everyone having equal right. But govt not taking action these king person. Same like Samajwadi Party MLA announce reward against Danish catoonist. Who he is india. He runnig indian govt. Govt should have to panish those man who taking against the humanities. |

Indian govt is not good, india is secular country . Every having right to put there opinion. She wrote her book about what is life in Bangladesh of Minority. But india having very few muslim but govt fogetting law and order. If this like situation is going in future no one International company going to be invest in Hydrabad or India, Central Govt still not spoke about this issue, all abroad person viewing what is going in india. Right now. Indian Govt supporting fundametalist for vote. this is shame for India, indian, indian constitution and Indian Govt. Govt shuold have give panishment this people who are atttack on Humanities. In coming future Indian will be distroyed by there internal politics. Why your Dr, Engr, Sciencetist and Professional person leaving country and going earn in Abroad. They safe abroad but not india. |
