Time Warner unit buys online gaming company
BURBANK, Calif. — Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of the media conglomerate Time Warner Inc., has agreed to buy Turbine Inc., a privately held online gaming studio.
Based in Boston, Turbine operates multiplayer games such as “Dungeons & Dragons Online” and “The Lord of the Rings Online.”
Warner Bros., which announced the acquisition Tuesday, did not say how much it is paying for the company.
Time Warner shares were down 18 cents to $32.99 in afternoon trading Wednesday.
