Will Google Launch Microblog Search Offering

google-twitterGoogle executives are all praises for Twitter’s success. Well, what could be the reason? It seems that the Googleplex men are looking to cash on the micoblogging giant. This is clear from reports in Google Operating System blog that reads, the company will launch a service that will index the content from Twitter and other microblogging sites. The service will imitate Google’s current blog search offering. The results would be seen at Google’s main web page results.

Google Operating System (which is not associated with Google) doesn’t provide any source of the story. But, its revelation is based on recent Google listing that refers to Google’s Microblogsearch. The note also mentions that Twitter is “the popular service associated with this format.”   The blog notes provide that Google would launch a way to search Twitter. To add to this Google’s Marissa Mayer had announced that the company is interested in being in offering micro-blogging and micro-messaging in their search.

With much noise over the service, it’s still not clear whether Google would be launching the service independent of Twitter. The grapevine suggests that the two companies had discussions about some sort of search  partnership. Earlier Google CEO, Eric Schmidt had talked about how ads could be provided with Twitter. In case Google launches the service independent of Twitter, it would be interesting to see how users would react to the Google versions, rather than using Twitter own search service that is surrounded with problems.

Last month a Twitter executive had divulged that the company is planning to improve upon its search function. Twitter has made no announcements since then.

Commenting on the issue a Google spokesman said that they have nothing to announce until now, and that they are looking for real time information.
