Highlights of changes unveiled by Facebook

Highlights of changes unveiled by Facebook:

— The latest messages, friends’ requests and comment notifications move to a menu on top of the page. Those items had been scattered around the site until now.

— Revamped links on the left meant to have users more easily discover photos and other content from friends. Messages, applications and games now can be accessed from the left menu as well.

— A more prominent link to people currently available for chats. It shows just the friends a user communicates with frequently.

— The search box is more prominent. Microsoft Corp., which powers it, says search results will go beyond just links to include “richer answers.”
