New Skype 5.0 for Windows with Facebook Integration and Group Video Calling Launched

The company, Skype, which is filing for an IPO, announced the release of Skype 5.0 for windows that integrates Facebook News Feed and Phonebook with it. Logging into your Facebook Connect, you will be able to see your regular News Feed and post status updates that can be synced with your Skype mood message. You can call and SMS your Facebook friends on their mobile phones and landlines. Additionally, you will be able to make a free Skype-to-Skype call if your Facebook friend is also a Skype contact. By default, your profile picture will only be visible to your contacts. It will not show in search results when other people try to find you in Skype.
The tool will allow you to make 10 way Video call and also includes the automatic call recovery feature, which smartly reconnects dropped calls as if the drop never happened. Further, the call quality manager figures out audio and video quality during calls, helping you to resolve problems in order to improve the call experience.The other interesting features include improved UI and a new home dashboard which contains a feed of mood messages from your contacts, and tutorials on Skype features. However, the company didn’t say anything when these features will be available for mobile version.
