Skype Launched Connect to Target Enterprise Customers

skype-logo Skype launched Skype Connect 1.0 on Monday to satisfy corporate customers. The application was known as Skype for SIP before. Skype connect that just finished Beta Testing, is a way to integrate  Internet Protocol calls with traditional private branch exchange (PBX) and Unified Communications systems. Skype Connect has about 2,400 users globally. The monthly fee to run the application is $6.95 per line. additionally, the partnership wih Shoretel, Cisco and Avaya are crucial to Skype’s success in the enterprise. Incidentally, Google is also trying to access enterprises in terms of calls and collaboration.

The feature of skype connect are as follows:

  • If you make outbound calls from desktop phones, it will be billed as per Skype rate.
  • Any inbound call from Skype users can be handled.
  • You can make calls from from corporate PBX systems using Skype numbers
  • You will find a dashboard to manage Skype via existing PBX and unified communications systems.

“We believe there is a significant opportunity to better serve the communications needs of the small and medium enterprise segment, as well as larger enterprise customers, by focusing on user needs in this market and developing additional products specifically tailored to business users.” said Skype.
