Summary Box: Court OKs cable TV access rules
THE DISPUTE: Cable TV providers challenged a five-year extension of federal regulations requiring them to make channels they own available to rivals such as satellite TV.
THE RULING: An appeals court sided with the Federal Communications Commission and left the rules intact.
WINNERS AND LOSERS: The decision was a setback for cable TV providers Cablevision Systems Corp. and Comcast Corp., while satellite TV provider DirecTV Inc. called it “a win for consumers.”
