Adobe Bundles Google Toolbar with Shockwave for Internet Explorer on Windows
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkSaturday, June 24, 2006
Google is massively pushing its web browser toolbar everywhere around the world. Google has agreed to pay a “significant amount” to have Google toolbar bundled with select Adobe downloads.
Initially it will downloaded with the popular and free Shockwave multimedia player, replacing current Yahoo Toolbar option. I am less than impressed with recent Yahoo products like Yahoo IM. It is a welcome move by all counts.
The move is obvioualy an effort to outflank Microsoft. The next version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer will default to MSN search rather than Google.
Google Toolbar will be available immediately by default with the Shockwave player download, but users can opt not to install it.

I am kinda annoyed with such bad practice. on update adobe now gives you this free toolbar, not just on new instalations. I guess I best disable auto update so that users clicking update buttons won’t be overrun with all sorts of toolbars they don’t actually want. |
