CA man charged with kidnapping teen he met online
BOISE, Idaho — An 18-year-old California man has been charged with kidnapping a 15-year-old Idaho girl after police say the two met on a social networking site and he got her to move in with him.
Misael (mis-AY’-el) G. Juarez of Oceano, Calif., is being held in the Ada County Jail on a charge of second-degree kidnapping.
Police say Juarez met the Boise girl on MySpace earlier this summer and got her to move into his residence in California. They say the girl was reported as a runaway to Boise police on June 4 and was found at Juarez’s home on June 17.
Juarez was extradited to Boise this week.
Police didn’t say how the girl got to California, and it was unknown if Juarez had an attorney.
The charge of second-degree kidnapping is punishable by up to 25 years in prison, with a one-year mandatory minimum.
MySpace is owned by News Corp.
