Google AdSense Silently Opts-in Publishers To Online Advertiser Sign-up Program
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkTuesday, November 22, 2005
I reported previously that Google is about to unveil a new program that lets publishers of AdSense partner Web sites sign up advertisers on their own. It is already operational and it has opted you in (if you are AdSense publisher) by default.
I have some concerns about this program.
- I don’t like the fact that it opted you in by default.
- It didn’t inform me that it is in operation. The feature is neatly hidden in Account Settings menu.
- It doesn’t allow a publisher to individually customize the message per domain. You can only customize the message per account.
- It doesn’t pay referral fees for every new advertiser who signs up through this process.
Overall I think there is a negative perception within publishers about this new AdSense Site targeting feature.
I hope Google AdSense team will address the concerns above to make it truly worthwhile for publishers.
