It seems today I am into two opposite motions for the same cause, Google. Just a while ago, we talked about how Google has become weary of Bing, but now, an interview of Sergey Brin to Jemima Kiss of Guardian is something that I should share with you coz it actually gives us a glimpse of how and why Google has gone that far and continues to move up the ladder despite the economic downturn. A Stanford University research project developed into a multi-billion-dollar phenomenon. It is quite astounding alright. But let’s not get blown over with this rather, let’s see the present side. How with a company of more than 20,000 people Google still innovates, moves fast and that too without imposing themselves on others , unlike most others. In this interview, Sergey Brin talks about benefits, google philosophy, the crazy implmentation of Google Wave and much more. Let me give you some excerpts.
It’s important for people to realise that you should benefit from the scale - if you’re not benefiting then you’re doing something wrong, and might as well break up into lots of little things
Oh! how simple
When they (Wave founders)came and proposed this idea they said, ‘We want to do something new and revolutionary, but we’re not even going to tell you what it is. And we want to go back to Australia, hire a bunch of people and just work on it.’ That was a crazy proposal,” But, having seen their success with Maps, I felt that it actually was pretty reasonable
That is Google for you. I don’t have an affinity towards G (read: ga ga Google) but its just that, give me another name who innovates, researches and excels that well with such freedom to employees.
