Summary Box: Twitter in no hurry to expand ads
IN NO HURRY: Twitter has taken four years to begin selling ads, initially as part of search results. The company says it’s in no rush to expand that.
OTHER REVENUE: Twitter’s co-founder says it’s already making money from search licensing deals with Google, Microsoft and Yahoo, so it can afford to take its time. It also has cash left from venture capitalists and other investors.
POSSIBLE NEXT STEPS: Twitter has said it might one day incorporate ads into your personal “timeline” of messages, if they are presumed to be relevant to you.
