Cloud OS is Finally Out with a Quick Startup, But…
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkMonday, December 1, 2008
Steve Ballmer will talk about it, Google will say how anticipation is creeping in and Good OS has finally launched it with minimum of fuss. I am talking about their release of a cloud-based version of the OS, simply named Cloud!
- Cloud runs a hybrid browser/linux kernel, offering quick startups and minimal lag.
- Cloud launches within a few seconds
- provides access to the internet
- runs client apps (like Skype), as well as a variety of web apps, including a dock full of them from Google.
- In addition, Cloud is compatible with flash video and mp3s, giving users options for multimedia use within the OS.
But…
If you are really impressed by this then I am sorry. Here is the worst news for you. Cloud is not meant to be a standalone solution. Instead, it will be packaged in netbooks alongside Windows XP. I mean what the hell. Is it some kind of a joke that I will need a bugging Windows again to use such a sophisticated technology! What do you mean its not stand alone! Give it a wheel chair instead.
