google Speaking at the Digital Landscapes Conference at UCD, Google Europe boss John Herlihy  said that smart mobile set is going to outnumber desktop screen in three years to consume information and entertainment. Using cloud computing, every mobile device will be able to run robust application. He further said that the company will do everything primarily keeping in mind about the mobile device. In Japan, most of the research are conducted using Mobile instead of desktop.

“Mobile makes the world’s information universally accessible. Because there’s more information and because it will be hard to sift through it all, that’s why search will become more and more important. This will create new opportunities for new entrepreneurs to create new business models – ubiquity first, revenue later.”

He further commented that the upcoming technological innovation is going to underscore the dominance of Google in technology. That’s why Google needs to deliver best quality value added product so that it can bring good return of investment to the advertiser in an open and transparent partnership.

Google is using “relentless brutality and execution” method to find business success in this competitive world. Mr. Herlihy briefed that everything moves fast in the digital world. Website may come up at any time or a video at YouTube may be a sudden hit. He also added that since, normal business principles doesn’t work here, company needs to eliminate extra resources to reduce the overhead. Additionally, his company looks for customer feedback to find out how customers react and that helps build revenue model.

Mr. Herlihy also believes that the best breed of people are instrumental to bring quality product. The main thrust of the company will be in the area of statistics and analysis in terms of search and advertisement. The focus of the company centres around mining data. That’s why Google needs best mathematicians around the world. The long term goal of Google is to built complex matrix-like organisational structure so that it can be hidden from the customers. He also concluded that if you can not provide 24×7, 365 days service, your competitors will gain.

“We measure people every 90 days. We get 360-degree feedback on people every 180 days and that feedback is published to the whole company. People want reality. Ninety per cent of the rewards end up going to 10pc of the people.”
