The Launch of iPad may be Pushed Back by a Month: Report
By Dipankar Das, Gaea News NetworkTuesday, March 2, 2010
As per Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek, there is good and bad news for the company Apple. The good news is that the sale of iPhone is better than expected. That’s why the estimate for sales is revised upwards for Q2 from 7.9 million units from 7.2 million. The bad news is that a “manufacturing bottleneck” may delay the production of ipad tablet which was supposed to go on sale by the end of the month.
“An unspecified production problem at the iPad’s manufacturer, Hon Hai Precision, will likely limit the launch region to the US and the number of units available to roughly 300K in the month of March, far lower than the company’s initial estimate of 1,000K units,” he writes
Misek also thinks that any delay is not going to affect the sale of iPad for the year 2010 or 2011.He projected the sale is 1.2 million and 3.5 million units respectively. However, the estimate for Wall Street for the year 2010 and 2011 is closer to 1.7 million and 4.9 million units. On the contrary, Misek also predicts that the jump of sales for iPhone is not going to be that significant. It will be offset by the delay of release for iPhone for Verizon.
