Five Very Useful iPad Apps for Travelers

ipad Since, more and more iPad apps are coming in the market, making it hard to know which ones you need and which one you may bypass. Frequent travelers have variety of apps that they can choose for a trip whether in train, plane or car. Courtyard Marriott has selected five useful apps that you may try for your next trip.

  • FlightTrackPro :  The app provides up to date information about your flight status to all your friends, family, and co-workers. You can  synchronize your flight schedule automatically by sending your airline confirmation emails to plan@tripit.com. You will be able to see your travel itinerary within a moment in your iPad’s Flight Track Pro app. The software automatically makes you aware about the real-time flight information even if the app is not open and  you won’t miss any schedule changes. The app costs $10.
  • BeatTheTraffic: This is a free app. It is extremely helpful for you if you visit to a new city. Initially, it asks you for your permission to use your location. After that it will immediately show you a map of the general area, with local traffic information. Weather icons give you current conditions and forecast information. Clocks shows planned events. Exclamation points indicates accidents, and yellow traffic cones mark construction sites.
  • UpNext3DCities: This is a free app that displays points of interest, restaurants, city transit lines and other informations in one convenient package. Also, the app provides user review to help you make good choice in an unknown city. You can zoom in and out of the map to show you the as far as the street view. Clicking on a location (say, a local burger joint) can bring up a screen with a photo, editorials from professional journalists, user reviews etc.
  • Urbanspoon: This is also a free app that helps you find nearby restaurants. For instance, the app shows some 25,000 restaurants in Los Angeles. If you do not get enough information from map view, you can switch to a list view of restaurants, cuisine type, or price range etc. The app also shows a pop-up listing how many restaurants matching your criteria appears right in the middle of the list.
  • Submaps HD: This app is designed both for iphone and iPad and it costs $1.99. you can access Subway maps from the whole world, in your hand, wherever you are, right from your iDevices. The app uses 75 maps with user friendly interface that you can browse through all subway maps from big cities around the world.
