Since its rise to popularity Facebook has been the hub of knee-slapper stuffs. The social networking giant plagued by privacy issues might have a new intricacy to address - Friend Request. In an ugly turn of events a Florida plumber Harry Burder was jailed for contacting his wife twice on Facebook within a month.  His wife Carole Bruder filed a complaint against him to ensure that her soon-to-be ex-hubby would never dare contact her again. However, Harry was under the impression that Facebook friend request are not listed under the legal definition of contact.

According to Smoking Gun, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office report says Harry made two attempts to contact his wife on Facebook, which is strictly a violation of court’s order for domestic violence injunction under which he is not supposed to contact his wife.

In police interrogation Harry admitted that he had send the requests to his wife. Burder replied that it was stupid to send them. The 54-old plumber is behind the bar and needs $5,000 in bail.

After the injunction Harry had posted a note on his Facebook account that read

today my future x wife thinks she won but the real winner is me for i know the truth she is nothing but a lying emotionally disturbed woman who needs help to handle previous abusive relationship.

Winner of the case is yet to be decided, but a man being imprisoned for merely sending a Friend request on Facebook sound unjust.

The incident might sound farcical at first instance, and unique bacause an injunction was ordered against the man, but it needs indepth thinking overtime. With dozens of undesired Friend requests pouring into our accounts, it’s high-time that social networking policies should be revised according to the changing social trends. Apprehensively, privacy issues will continue to cramp social networking and its not impossible that oneday you might be penalised just for sending a Friend Request to an uber cool Facebook entity.
