After celebrating Sir Isaac Newton’s birthday on 4th January with a special doodle, Google, the search engine giant, has once again taken a great move. This time Google is celebrating Norman Rockwell’s birthday with a new doodle, dedicated to the painting of him.
Norman Rockwell was an American painter of 20th century. He was born on Feb 3, 1894 and died on Nov 8, 1978. Rockwell is most famous for his work in art and literature, specially those appeared in The Saturday Evening Post magazine over more than four decades.
Rockwell is best known for his works such as Willie Gillis series, Rosie the Riveter, Saying Grace (1951), and the Four Freedoms series. He painted Four Freedoms series, inspired by a speech made by Franklin D. Roosevelt, during World War II.
The Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts is enriched with his rare collection of his paintings. It includes 574 original paintings and drawings of Norman Rockwell.
Today is his 116th birth anniversary. To show honor to the great legend Google homepage is designed with Norman Rockwell’s painting. If you take the cursor on the doodle on Google homepage today, a message pops up saying “Norman Rockwell’s Birthday (c) 1926 SEPS by Curtis Publishing”.
This effort taken by Google is really praiseworthy. It’s to remind the new generation about our old heritage. Thanks Google !
