Google AdSense Changes Its Own Rule for ImDB?

I don’t get Google AdSense. Last year with great fanfare they announced making the text of the ad non-linkable while keeping the title and URL linkable. This lead to immediate loss of huge revenue by publishers worldwide. And yet they are glaringly violating their own rules for ImDB.

The Google AdSense ad on ImDB site has linkable title as well as linkable text, while the url itself is not linkable. This sigifcantly increased the clickable area on the ad thereby adversely affecting advertisers as it can increase unintentional click-throughs as per Google’s admission, reason they gave for reducing the clickable area. Also look at the size of the title link. It is humongous. Hey Google can I too get such BIIIIG title links?

I am unhappy because while Google can and does favor big publishers, it shouldn’t directly violate its own published policies. Is Google saying that advertisers getting fleeced (with accidental click-throughs) doesn’t matter as long as the site is big enough like ImDB?

What’s the deal here Google? Could it be that you are not playing fair?

Google didn’t change their rules: IMDB is running Premium ads. They have a premium account which permite to change the style of the links, and customize more the ads than a normal account.
