myspace_logo MySpace is going to launch new APIs and third party developers will be using the data that gets published on the social network, in real-time, on the fly. MySpace COO rolled out the new APIs at LaWeb conference this morning. The Real-Time Stream API is the most important one among those published APIs. It enables MySpace activity stream to be pushed to third party web site in real time. The granular filter of the API allows the developers to control the amount of data to be pushed in. The APIs are going to be free and in compliance with open standard.

Google and Real time search company are going to use the data like status updates, music, videos, photos and more for its search results. Google recently announced the initiative for Real time Search Engine. They are going to use MySpace data shortly. OneRiot already integrated MySpace activity stream data into its search engine. The third partner Groovy is planning to use Realtime Data Management Software to launch GroovyChannel on MySpace.

The APIs other than Real-Time Stream API includes:

  • Status and Mood commenting API: This piece of software allows developers to integrate MySpace mood and status updates to 3rd party sites.
  • Open Search API: This allows 3rd party sites to include MySpace profiles in search results.
  • Photo Upload API: You can upload photo to MySpace from 3rd party sites by using this API.
