Prior to Google’s announcement to retreat business from China, the biggest search engine company faced allegation of being politicized. A collaborative attempt was made by Chinese media, that attacked Google (GOOG) by associating its name with U.S. intelligence agencies.
Google had been involved in a cold war with the Chinese government for a long time. The situation worsened with Google’s decision not to abide by the Chinese filtering laws and regulations. After two months from Google’s defiant move, Chinese communist government has made their position clear. They have stated that China would not compromise with its laws and regulations for the sake of any American company. Google has to strictly maintain Chinese web censorship or it may move back.
Google is alleged of deviating from the principles, that the business world has long been maintaining. Google is also accused of entering into Chinese market not for commercial reason but to penetrate into the Chinese culture and Chinese people’s values.
Google had seen a growing popularity in China for the last four years. Now it will decide whether to put an end to its business in China (Google is reported to leave China on April 10) or continue ruling the internet market there. Whatever be Google’s decision, China’s internet market will flourish and become stronger with 400 million users, according to China Radio International.
