Orkut gets Google Latitude App
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkWednesday, April 15, 2009
The success of Orkut has been quite centralized within India, Brazil etc and most importantly, very unlike Google, it has never come out of its limitations. However, this may just be the start when Google takes things seriously with this massively popular social networking site used by millions of people, as Google starts its Google Latitude service (that lets you see your friends’ locations and status messages and share yours with them.) in orkut.
If you use Google Latitude from your mobile phone, you can even send your friends updates on your location while you’re out and about, making it easier to bump into the people you care about.
Google Latitude is a cool feature but with a geeky name. Fancy something light Google so that people get interested actually beyond latitude and longitude.

I tried Google latitude on my laptop, but I do not have friends who enabled it, so I could not track anyone, and I could not use it on my mobile phone either, too bad. |
